Our Independence Day stands for the beginning of a new era, the start of new life – free from bondage and slavery. This day is celebrated throughout India with grand ceremonies – commemorating and honoring all the people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.
This year UWCEC celebrated their Independence Day by paying tribute to our great freedom fighters in a unique way. Teachers and children came dressed up as the different freedom fighters and went to each class reciting an inspirational quote by each freedom fighter.
Teachers explained to the students the meaning of Independence Day. The national flag was shown and explained in the class. There were different activities related to the tricolor like the tricolor palm print and the tricolour lotus bird painting. Students were told the story of Independence Day and explained the importance of this day.
A group photo was taken by the teachers to cherish all these memories. Everyone could witness pride, happiness and a positive aura throughout the day.

UWCEC held a special celebration on 10th August, to honour the teachings and sacrifices of the patron saint of the school – Saint Lawrence. All students were taken to the grotto of Saint Lawrence where they offered their prayers and sought his blessings.
Students were explained about Saint Lawrence’s life, his work, his teachings and beliefs and especially his generous nature and his kindness through a power point presentation. They also did some art activities to imbibe the spirit of Saint Lawrence and to understand the true power of his blessings. The Nursery students did magic painting and painted their school building while the Jr Kg and Sr Kg students drew the picture of their school building on an A4 sheet.
At the end the students were explained as to how we must embrace the qualities of our patron saint and become human beings full of love and compassion who always add value to society.

Shapes and colors are an important part of early childhood education. They not only help children identify and organize visual information, but also help them to learn skills in other curriculum areas including reading, math and science.
At UWCEC the teachers organized a few games and activities related to a red circle. Students were shown different objects and among those, they had to identify the red circle. They loved doing this. There was also a worksheet of the color red as reinforcement.
Students played a game along with their teacher by sitting in a circle on the floor. They played with red hula hoops. A tray filled with red Rangoli was given to the students to draw a circle in it.
At the end the teachers showed them the readiness kit where they had to identify the red circle, as a part of revision. All the above activities helped the students to gain practical knowledge in an interesting way.
