Makar Sankranti Celebration at UWCEC! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Festivals are the lifeline of Indian culture. Makar Sankranti is a festival that marks the beginning of the new year and signifies the arrival of spring and the start of a fresh harvest season. It is celebrated all over India in different ways like Lohri in North India, Makar Sankranti in West India, Bihu in East India, and Pongal in South India.

As it is important for our children to understand our traditions and how we celebrate different festivals in different parts of India, UWCEC celebrated Makar Sankranti in school on 12th Jan 2024.

Everyone was dressed in black clothes on that day. Students were shown a PowerPoint Presentation related to harvest festivals celebrated in different parts of India. Teachers explained the significance of black clothes on this day and about the exchange of Til Gul on the day of Sankranti.

Different activities based on Sankranti were done by all 3 grades. Teachers also taught them about sharing and caring and how we should forget all our past problems and grudges and become friends with everyone. Students flew their kites and enjoyed the songs related to kite flying.

At the end Teachers Said β€œTil Gul ghya god god bola” and gave Til gul to all the students.
