Show and Tell Competition at UWCEC

Schools play a vital role in shaping children’s understanding of nutrition, health, and creativity. One such engaging and educational initiative taken by UWCEC was the Fruits and Vegetables Show and Tell Competition. This competition allowed the students to explore and enhance their confidence and presentation skills.

The Jr. Kg. students participated in the competition and each child chose one fruit or vegetable to talk about. They prepared 5 sentences on each ,which was provided by the school on the school app. The sentences covered aspects such as: its name and origin, nutritional benefits, how it contributes to good health etc. Many students also brought colorful charts, real fruits and vegetables and even made a crown of their chosen fruit or vegetable to make their presentation more engaging.

They were assessed by their performance based on clarity, sound, confidence, and accuracy of information. After the performance the teachers gave “Great Job ”and “Well done” batches to all the participants as per their presentations.

The Fruits and Vegetables Show and Tell Competition was a fantastic initiative that blended education with fun. It not only promoted healthy eating but also nurtured the students’ speaking skills and creativity.

Gudi Padwa Celebration at UWCEC

Gudi Padwa Celebration at UWCEC

Gudi Padwa is a traditional festival that marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and it is usually celebrated in March or April. This festival has both a cultural and religious significance.

The term “Gudi Padwa” is derived from two words “Gudi”, which refers to a decorative flag on the banner made of a bright cloth and placed on a pole and “Padwa”, which means the first day of the month.

At UWCEC, the teachers explained to the students why we celebrate Gudi Padwa by showing them a powerpoint presentation and also a video based on the story of Gudi Padwa.

The children also erected a Gudi in their own classes and discussed the importance of it. The teachers guided the students and they worshiped the Gudi.

This was followed by various activities done in each class. The tiny tots of Nursery made a Gudi with craft paper under the guidance of their teachers; Jr.kg coloured a Gudi Padwa worksheet and Sr.kg made greeting cards with the help of their teachers. All these activities developed their fine motor skills.

It was a fun and special festival marking the start of a new year for Maharashtrian people and it was celebrated with great enthusiasm by everyone at UWCEC.
